Project 4B was a philosophic project. The assignment was to design a seating object. This object needs to discribe a feeling or emotion. Fontys gave us 3 locations for the object: VieCuri hospital, Maasboulevard and the new ecologic municipal office. I have chosen for the hospital, because I wanted to describe the feeling of sick human. The endless fight against cancer.

The object is made of granite. I chose for granite because it is a hard material with a smooth and slippery surface. In combination with the angle of the seat and no armrest it is really uncomfortable to sit on. This is where the fight begins, because it's the only 'chair' in the room. While you are sitting on the seat, it will become tougher and tougher to stay on it. Your legs will begin to sour, but you keep on fighting against the sour legs to keep sit on it. In a figuratively way you don't want to give up on living. Because against all odds you will have hope that there is a way, a miracle will happen, sooner or later. The hope is symbolised by the the white glimers of light in the darkness.
